I have been reading To Kill A Mockingbird for about a month, and I just finished it about a week ago. I think this is the best book that I’ve ever read for school. Harper Lee did an amazing job in crafting this wonderful story! I have definitely read some pretty good books for school, but I believe that this one is the best I’ve ever read for school, at least. Most books I read for school, I feel like I’m forced to read the book, and I want to avoid reading it. The story of this book is fascinating, interesting, and far from boring! I actually enjoyed reading this book and couldn’t wait until I finished all my other school so that I could read it.
Okay, I’ve said how great this book is, but I haven’t really said why I think that. It truly comes down to how captivating the book is. Countless other books that I’ve read for school seem to be either dry, confusing, or just straight up boring! To Kill A Mockingbird is none of those things. The majority of school-related historical fiction books that I’ve read have paragraphs of detail and no dialogue or action. Don’t get me wrong, description can be great, but when used in the right amounts and in the right places. To Kill A Mockingbird had its fair share of description, but I didn’t feel like it was thrown at me! I genuinely enjoyed reading this book because it had a good balance between description, action, and dialogue.
I had heard from my dad that this was his favorite book that he read in High School, so I had high expectations going into it. This book met those expectations! If you have to read this book for school, don’t be depressed because you are in for a treat. If you are contemplating whether to read this book on your own, by all means read it because it is a spectacular book!
