Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, is the third out of my four amusement parks that I’ve been to. I used to go to Kings Island a lot as a kid when my grandparents lived in the area, but since they moved, I hadn’t gone in years. Then last year, I went on a school trip with fellow High School students to Kings Island. I had a blast going there!
The best thing about Kings Island, I think, is the rides. KI has some spectacular coasters, and I really enjoyed riding them. Coasters like Orion and Diamondback rank in the list of my favorite coasters of all time at any theme park. While they aren’t themed as well as coasters in Disney or Universal, they make up for that in the thrill of the coaster itself.
Two tips I have when it comes to Kings Island:
1) Do NOT get the food plan! I didn’t think that it was worth it, and I ended up losing money on it. That was partially due to bad time management, but I still don’t think it is a very great deal! Just buy the food without the plan.
2) DO get the drink plan! This gives you unlimited drinks every 15 min throughout the day. Since I went during the summer, this would have been very nice. I said, “would have been” because I decided not to purchase this, but got the food pass instead. Learn from my mistakes, and get this, but not the food pass!
Kings Island also has a water park called Soak City, but I didn’t get to check it out much on my most recent trip. We simply ran out of time and only got to do a few water slides (we also had to wait for a very long time on one of them). So, if you are going to do the water park, make sure that you have an ample amount of time to do it! The time I did have, though, was really fun, and I got to enjoy an awesome few water slides (and the wave pool).
Kings Island is a remarkable amusement park that I really enjoyed going to! My High School group is going again this summer, and I cannot wait to go! KI is great for all ages! There are coasters for young kids, and coasters for those who love insane coasters! You can go to the Kings Island Website to learn more!
