Something I Read
SUPER HERO COLLECTORS
This week I had planned to write about a book that I read a while back, since yes, I’m still not done with Lord of the Rings. Those plans were changed when I got a link from a friend to a blog that is new to me! It is called the Super Hero Collectors website, and this blog is about everything Marvel! Scott, the author of this blog, really enjoys Marvel and enjoys sharing that in his blog. He talks about that more in his about page.
He has four posts out so far, and they are all fascinating! Scott writes about superheroes, specifically Marvel. As you know from a past newsletter, I really enjoy everything Marvel! I found out about this newsletter yesterday and since then, I’ve read every post and been fascinated! He has written…
Who Was the First Marvel Superhero?
Who Was the First Avenger?
Avengers Movies Chronological Order
When Did Iron Man First Appear?
When I first saw these, I thought that I knew the answers to these questions, but I was wrong! The answers are really quite fascinating, and the author goes into great detail about the history of Marvel! I thought I knew a lot about Marvel, but I’ve learned tons of new facts and interesting snippets from his posts! For anyone who enjoys Marvel, you should definitely consider reading this newsletter because it is pretty fantastic! I’ve been looking for some newsletters/blogs to read, and I’m glad that I came across this one! I will undoubtedly be reading it every time a new one comes out! Click this link if you would like to go to his website and start reading!
Something I Watched
HOME ALONE
Last week, I talked about one of the funniest Christmas movies ever, Elf. Well, I’m here to tell you that there is a funnier Christmas movie than Elf! This movie is a movie that I’ve watched COUNTLESS times! I literally watch it every single year when the Christmas season comes around. This is absolutely my favorite Christmas movie! The movie I’m referring to is Home Alone! If you haven’t seen this movie, what are you doing with your life?! No, seriously, it is a really great movie, and you need to watch it. Well….you need to watch at least the first one. There are five Home Alonemovies; here is the list of all of them:
Home Alone (1990)
Home Alone 2 (1992)
Home Alone 3 (1997)
Home Alone 4 (2002)
Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012)
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
All of these can be found on Disney+ for your watching pleasure. I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched all of them (I’ve seen all of them except the 4th and 5th). This is because after the 1st movie, they aren’t as good, so I gave up watching some newer ones.
The first Home Alone is easily the best one because of the comedy. There is just something about watching robbers get hurt by a little kid that makes this movie funny EVERY TIME! Also, Kevin is pretty hilarious, although he can be slightly disrespectful. The second movie is pretty good, except for the fact that the plot line is a literal copy of the first movie (I’m not kidding; think about it for a minute). The rest of the movies don’t have Kevin, so that immediately degrades the value of them. Nonetheless, it is still funny to see thieves get hurt by a young child…
Home Alone and all of its successors are great movies that will be worth your time watching! They are pretty comical, and I’ve laughed more at these movies than probably any other movie I’ve ever seen! You should definitely watch at least the first one this holiday season! I may even watch the 4th (2002) and 5th (2012) movies since I’ve never watched them before!
Tech Thoughts
FLYMUDA DESK LAMP
Almost everyone knows that both Black Friday and Cyber Monday occurred last week, but not everyone knows what I bought during both of those events. I bought two things which I would like to share in this newsletter. One will be this week and one in a future week (once it gets here and I explore it a bit)! The first is the Flymuda Desk Lamp. I have a lamp that has been sitting on my night stand for years, and I really like it, but I wanted to get a lamp for my desk. This Flymuda Desk Lamp is perfect for what I needed. You are probably thinking, “What is so great about a lamp?” Allow me to explain: the Flymuda Desk Lamp has two great things about it...
The first is the three different light settings. It has a hard light, a regular light, and a soft light setting! It is really useful to be able to switch between these three different light settings with the tap of a button! The button is actually kind of cool because you don’t even have to push it or anything. You literally just tap it to turn it on/off and switch between the settings. The light brightness is pretty good. There has been once or twice when I’ve wished it was a bit brighter or darker, but overall, it is very useful.
The other awesome feature of this lamp is the wireless charging! I’ll be honest, this was the main reason that I bought this lamp. Tons of lamps are out there, but this one has wireless charging! All you have to do is set your compatible phone on the base of the desk lamp, and it will start charging. While this isn’t the fastest charge, it is very convenient to be able to do that! Wait, but two weeks ago I denied having a phone! Well, I use this to charge my AirPods, and it is spectacular! I just set my AirPods on the stand, and it starts charging. It is sometimes a little finicky, and you have to get it to the right spot on there, but it really isn’t that big of a deal. It is still a million times more convenient than using a regular charger!
Overall, I really like this desk lamp and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice desk lamp and wireless charger for a good price! I use it on my desk, but you could definitely use it on a night-stand or table! It’s really a great lamp and I’m glad that I purchased it! While the Black Friday is no longer available (for $11), you can find it on Amazon now for $25.
Wild Card
KINGS ISLAND
Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, is the third out of my four amusement parks that I’ve been to. I used to go to Kings Island a lot as a kid when my grandparents lived in the area, but since they moved, I hadn’t gone in years. Then last year, I went on a school trip with fellow High School students to Kings Island. I had a blast going there!
The best thing about Kings Island, I think, is the rides. KI has some spectacular coasters, and I really enjoyed riding them. Coasters like Orion and Diamondback rank in the list of my favorite coasters of all time at any theme park. While they aren’t themed as well as coasters in Disney or Universal, they make up for that in the thrill of the coaster itself.
Two tips I have when it comes to Kings Island:
1) Do NOT get the food plan! I didn’t think that it was worth it, and I ended up losing money on it. That was partially due to bad time management, but I still don’t think it is a very great deal! Just buy the food without the plan.
2) DO get the drink plan! This gives you unlimited drinks every 15 min throughout the day. Since I went during the summer, this would have been very nice. I said, “would have been” because I decided not to purchase this, but got the food pass instead. Learn from my mistakes, and get this, but not the food pass!
Kings Island also has a water park called Soak City, but I didn’t get to check it out much on my most recent trip. We simply ran out of time and only got to do a few water slides (we also had to wait for a very long time on one of them). So, if you are going to do the water park, make sure that you have an ample amount of time to do it! The time I did have, though, was really fun, and I got to enjoy an awesome few water slides (and the wave pool).
Kings Island is a remarkable amusement park that I really enjoyed going to! My High School group is going again this summer, and I cannot wait to go! KI is great for all ages! There are coasters for young kids, and coasters for those who love insane coasters! You can go to the Kings Island Website to learn more! Also, you should check out my Walt Disney World Review and my Universal Studios Orlando Review if you haven’t already!
Thank you guys so much for reading! Have a great week! Please share my newsletter with your friends and family! It would really help me out!
I loved taking you guys to Kings Island when we lived there!!
I will keep the KI advice in mind next time I go
